WeRide expands "driverless cabs" Robotaxi running 24/7 across central Guangzhou, China

WeRide has launched 8 fully autonomous, round-the-clock Robotaxi routes in central Guangzhou, becoming the first to operate a 24-hour autonomous ride-hailing network in the core areas of a Tier 1 Chinese city.

The move marks a critical milestone in the mass commercialization of autonomous driving in China and sets a new benchmark for the industry.
The new service connects key commercial and transportation hubs such as Canton Tower, the Canton Fair Complex, Garden Hotel, Zhujiang New Town, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, and Guangzhou South Railway Station.
Riders can access the Robotaxi service through the WeRide Go app, with 24-hour availability and next-day ride scheduling starting from 6 p.m. each evening.

Despite the high-density, high-traffic areas, the network is designed to demonstrate WeRide’s advanced autonomous driving capabilities and operational reliability.

With more than 2,000 consecutive days of public operation and no active safety incidents, the company has built a strong track record in safe, large-scale deployment and has continued to enhance and enlarge its operation in China, the UAE, and Switzerland, totaling up to 8 different cities.

Specifically in China, it only takes 4 months for them to receive regulatory approval in February 2025 to operate commercially in Beijing’s Economic-Technological Development Area and major rail hubs, after debuting its new-generation Robotaxi model GXR.
With the launch of Guangzhou’s 24-hour Robotaxi network, WeRide continues to accelerate toward global commercialization, aiming to make autonomous ride-hailing safer, more efficient, and more accessible.
