[ISC 2024] NVIDIA confirms 9 new supercomputers across the world are powered by its Grace Hopper Superchips

Team Green has announced its current most powerful hardware for AI supercomputing is now the heart of 9 new supercomputers across the world.

With their combined power, they are capable of churning out 200 exaFLOPs of raw computing capability that is also energy-efficient, leading to industry-transforming breakthroughs in various fields like medicine, climate monitoring, and more.

Here's a few of the supercomputer's names, where they are situated, and optionally provided by which company:

  • EXA1-HE - France - Hewlett Packard Enterprise
  • Alps - Switzerland - Hewlett Packard Enterprise
  • JUPITER - Germany
  • Delta AI - US
  • Miyabi - Japan
  • Isambard-AI - UK
  • Isambard 3 - UK
  • Unspecified systems at Los Alamos National Laboratory + Texas Advanced Computing Center - US

Specifically the EXA1-HE, it was delivered in April and comes with Eviden's patented warm-water cooling system BullSquana XH3000 technology that chills over an array of 477 compute nodes.

As for Isambard-AI, it is currently in phase 1 which hosts an HPE Cray EX2500 supercomputer with 168 GH200 Superchips with the rest of the 5,280 arriving this summer and extending that performance by about 32x.

However, the full power is never achievable without the rest of the things like the NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand networking linking across nodes to form a giant logical system plus the rest of the AI and HPC software developed in-house.
